Maybe it has already happened to you: you join a new WhatsApp group in which you know some of its members, but not all. And from these unknown contacts, you will not see the user’s name, but their phone number. To solve it you need to add this user to our contact list, but if the group has a lot of people it may take a long time.
Now WABetaInfo, the website specializing in beta versions of WhatsApp, has discovered that the behavior of the iPhone application will change Be sure to show these people’s names and not their phone numbers.
Don’t call me +349999999 call me ~Miguel
In the screenshot above you can see how this name appears both in the group preview and within the group and in its member list. In the current version of the application, you only see the phone number, which makes it difficult to distinguish.
Our Xataka Móvil colleagues have been able to access the beta to test the novelty and we can see the difference between what we have seen so far (left) and what we will see with the new version:
In the current version, the name can be seen on the right side of the phone, but only if the user chooses to show it. It always shows up in the beta.
The phone number doesn’t disappear, it becomes more subtle in the upper right part of the message. We now have something similar to what is already happening with Telegram, so that you can see the user’s name or pseudonym, even if you don’t know their number. It’s a pity that this number cannot be hidden like this other service, since WhatsApp accounts use it as a basis to identify themselves.

How to install WhatsApp on an Apple Watch
We don’t know when we’ll be able to see this feature in the stable versions of WhatsApp, but it shouldn’t be long in coming. It’s not something that requires too much technical effort to launch, but it’s a detail that will make our experience with it
In Applesphere | Now it’s legal for them to put you in a WhatsApp workgroup without your permission: so we can avoid it on iPhone
(function() { window._JS_MODULES = window._JS_MODULES || {}; var headElement = document.getElementsByTagName(‘head’)[0]; if (_JS_MODULES.instagram) { var instagramScript = document.createElement(‘script’); instagramScript.src=” instagramScript.async = true; instagramScript.defer = true; headElement.appendChild(instagramScript); } })();
